Additional Information
Cencora has agreed to a $40 million class action settlement following a February 2024 cyberattack that potentially exposed the personal and health information of over 540,000 individuals.
The breach may have compromised sensitive data, including names, birthdates, medical diagnoses, prescriptions, insurance details, and financial information. Affected individuals were notified either by mail or through public announcements.
The settlement resolves a class action lawsuit brought by Kelvin James in federal court in Pennsylvania. The suit claimed that Cencora and its subsidiary, The Lash Group, did not properly safeguard their systems. According to the complaint, the companies delayed notifying affected individuals for over three months, which allegedly heightened the risk of identity theft and financial fraud.
While Cencora denies any wrongdoing, it agreed to the settlement to resolve these claims and avoid protracted litigation.
What Class Members Can Receive
California Residents: May qualify for double the payment under applicable state laws.
Reimbursement for Documented Losses: Eligible individuals can claim up to $5,000 for verified expenses such as fraudulent charges, credit monitoring fees, or professional services.
Cash Payments for Unverified Losses: Individuals without supporting documentation may still receive a payment from the remaining settlement fund.
